#APBMusic: Alejandro Holliday

Alejandro Holliday, born in La Lima Cortes, Honduras, has taken his journey and translated it into his music, pulling from different elements of life. Although he started singing on tracks only two years ago, Holliday has been producing his own music since the age of 15. He aims to broaden his reach with his music while maintaining the intimacy of his craft.

WHAT ARE SOME OF YOUR FAVORITE ARTISTS TO LISTEN TO RIGHT NOW?

HOLLIDAY: Floating Points, Skrillex, and AUDREY NUNA!

WHAT WOULD YOU SAY INSPIRED YOU TO GET INTO MUSIC? WHERE DO YOU HOPE TO GO WITH YOUR MUSIC?

HOLLIDAY: Music to me is part of a bigger picture, to tell stories. I’ve always wanted to take people somewhere else using my art, music is the vehicle to that.

To reach as many people as possible, while maintaining the integrity of the intimate. I want to remain as free within my own element as possible while diversifying my ability to earn in the market. To share my crazy stories, make some friends and never settle for anything less than the best outta life.

HOW DO YOU DEFINE SUCCESS?

HOLLIDAY: I'm successful right now, I've always been successful. My success has been measured by how often I’ve tended to my seeds and foundational elements in my life in order to grow the gifts and resources I’ve been both blessed to achieve but proud to have earned.

WHEN DID YOU FEEL CONFIDENT ENOUGH TO BEGIN TO SHARE YOUR MUSIC WITH YOUR FRIENDS AND FAMILY?

HOLLIDAY: Friends and family? Man, they could hear it through the walls haha.

Sharing for me was always weird because I wanted it to be perfect, although now I understand the “perfect version” doesn’t really exist. I would say about 2 years ago I started really using myself slowly outta my immediate bubble.

WHAT DOES STYLE MEAN TO YOU?

HOLLIDAY: Style to me means expression and function. Meaning: clothing that accentuates and doesn’t eliminate, enhance the natural form of the body, but always with durability, sustainability, and functionality in mind. I love thrifting for that very reason, you choose the clothes based on shape, color and texture, and function, not because of brand or season.
