Introducing #APBStyle: Kiyana

Meet Kiyana, a talented creative whose style is a true reflection of innovation and authenticity. Dive into her world as we explore the perfect blend of personal expression, cinematography, and the art of fashion the vibrant realm of #APBStyle.

Get to know Kiyana through a sit-down rapid Q&A below.

If you could describe your personal style in 2 words what would it be?

Kiyana: Dope. Visionary!

You’re traveling to shoot, what 5 things are you definitely packing?

Kiyana: FX3, dope lenses, a banging playlist, something hype for my feet - helps me feel confident, and sunglasses.

As someone who effortlessly combines style and creativity, what advice would you give to others who are on their journey of embracing and defining their own personal style?

Kiyana: I would say don’t be afraid to cross boundaries. Just because someone says it’s menswear doesn’t mean I'm not going to try to rock it. Finding out color palettes and what works best for their vibe.

How important is styling in cinematography and how does it support telling a story?

Kiyana: In storytelling, what someone wears is going to give off what’s important to them, their archetype. Sets the tone, mood, vibe, lets the model feel comfortable and be in character. It’s essential to every great composition. For example, Lil Yachty’s newest music video used style and color was a juxtaposition to the set design and did a great job making it feel more vibrant.

What fashion icons inspire your style choices?

Kiyana: Aleali, and shoot all the women that I work with… for example I see some girls come into work with Sambas and switch out laces to something unique… that’s dope.

Top 5 songs you’re playing in the background while getting dressed in the morning?

Kiyana: Right Now - 500 Pounds by Lil Tecca, Deli by Ice Spice, Meltdown by Travis Scott, Sprinter by Central C, and last but not least Go Down by Don Toliver.

If you could go through anyone’s closet, who would it be (side note: this can be a real person or fictional character)?

Kiyana: If I could go through anyone’s closet it would probably be Tenisha Clarke’s (IYKYK) and Daenerys Targaryen.

Real quick, top 5 basketball players of all time?

Kiyana: Nikola Jokić, Kobe Bryant, Kyrie Irving, Steph Curry, Michael Jordan… FIGHT ME.
